Seekers - Foundation Level (Beginners)

Seekers Foundation Level is a combination of three weekend courses designed to develop a theoretical and practical understanding of the fundamental teachings of Islam. It aims to equip students with the knowledge and training required to live their lives as an everyday Muslim in the modern world and serves as the foundation for advanced Islamic learning.

Islamic Foundations comprises of the following three courses;

• Creed, Purification & Prayer
• The Complete Biography of Muhammad صلى الله عليه وسلم
• Social & Moral Etiquettes

Material will be taught in a relevant and coherent fashion and quizzes and examinations will take place so that students develop a solid comprehension of the subjects. Upon the successful completion of this program 3 credits will be granted which will serve as a prerequisite for the next phase; Pursuers of Islamic Sciences

Pursuers - Recognition in Islamic Sciences (Intermediate)

‘Pursuers of Islamic Sciences’ is a series of 40 weeknight courses designed to build on the knowledge acquired from the Seekers Foundation courses. It has been prepared to pave the road towards authentic Islamic Scholarship for those who wish to pursue it.

By studying the disciplines of each Islamic science and the classical manuals relevant to them at an intermediate level, students will develop a thorough understanding of the depth of each field thus enabling them to appreciate the sacrifices made by our pious predecessors. These courses will empower them to deal with many of the socio-religious challenges North American Muslims face today and will provide them with the ability to guide communities in such religiously volatile situations.

The following courses will be offered in this program inshä’Allah;

• Arabic:

9 courses on Arabic grammar, morphology, vocabulary and literature

• Creed:

2 courses on the classic manuals of Islamic Theology and 1 course on a comparative and critical analysis of current Islamic sects

• Exegesis of the Qur’an:

4 courses on the principles of tafseer and 4 courses on the exegesis of select chapters of the Qur’an

• Hadëth

1 course on the creation and evolution of hadëth sciences and 7 courses on three classic compilations of hadëth.

• Jurisprudence

1 course on the Imams of Fiqh and matters related to following a math’hab, 1 course on purification (tahärah), 3 courses on prayer (saläh), 1 course on funeral procedures, 1 course on fasting, 1 course on zakäh and hajj  and 1 course on marriage and divorce.

• History

1 course on the era of the four Caliphs, 1 course on the Umayyad era and 1 course on the Abbasid period

Each course will be a total of 36 in class hours split into 12 to 18 sessions. 3 credits will be granted to students upon the successful completion of each course.  A total of 120 credits must be acquired in order for one to progress to the ‘Succesors - Expertise in Islamic Sciences’ program.

Successors - Expertise in Islamic Sciences (Advanced Level)

The ‘Successors - Advanced Islamic Sciences’ program is a 2 year full time day course. This program will equip the pursuer with the most in-depth knowledge of Islam in circulation today at standards that exceed those of most seminaries currently in operation.  In this program students will study;

• Arabic rhetoric and eloquence
• Exegesis of the remainder of the Qur’an along with a study of rulings derived from verses pertaining to Islamic law (Sharë’a) according to all 4 math’habs.
•  The 6 classic compilations of hadëth literature (Sihäh Sitta)
• Advanced sciences of hadëth and the principles of scrutinizing hadëth narrators
• A complete manual on Islamic Law (Fiqh)
• The principles of Islamic Law (Fiqh)

Students who successfully graduate from this program will be granted scholarly licence and will be furnished with an absolute command on the most important sciences of our religion through Allah’s help and assistance.
